Cookie Notice

Last updated: 31 July 2026

As at the date above, this website loads no analytics, advertising, or behavioural-tracking technologies. The only storage we use is what the site needs to work and to remember your display preference. There is therefore nothing for a cookie banner to ask you to accept or reject.

1. What this notice covers

This notice explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the EasyQuo website at https://easyquo.com, and gives an overview of those used in the EasyQuo application at https://app.easyquo.com. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

2. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, and which the browser sends back on later visits. Similar technologies achieve much the same thing by other means - the two relevant here are local storage (a browser store that a site can read and write, which unlike a cookie is never transmitted to a server) and session storage (the same, but cleared when the tab closes).

Technologies are usually described by who sets them - first-party if set by the site you are visiting, third-party if set by another domain - and by how long they last: a session item disappears when you close the browser, while a persistent item has an expiry date.

3. Categories, and what we actually use

3.1 Strictly necessary

These are required for a site or application to function and cannot be switched off through a consent control without breaking it.

  • On this marketing website: we set no first-party cookie of our own. Where the site is served through a content-delivery and security network, that network may set strictly necessary cookies to route traffic and to distinguish humans from automated abuse.
  • In the EasyQuo application: authentication and session state are required to keep you signed in and to protect your account. Disabling them makes signing in impossible.

3.2 Preference

These remember a choice you made so the site behaves the way you asked.

  • Theme preference. When you use the light/dark toggle, we store your choice under the key easyquo-marketing-themein your browser's local storage. It is first-party, it stays on your device, it is never sent to us or to anyone else, and it contains nothing but the word light or dark. It persists until you clear your browser storage.

3.3 Analytics

We do not use any. This website loads no analytics product - no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no product-analytics or session-replay tool. We have deliberately not named a provider anywhere in this notice, because naming one we do not use would be misleading.

3.4 Marketing and advertising

We do not use any. There are no advertising pixels, conversion tags, retargeting scripts, or cross-site tracking technologies on this website. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

3.5 Security and fraud prevention

  • Cloudflare Turnstile is used on the contact form on our About page to check that submissions come from a person rather than an automated script. The Turnstile script is only loaded when you visit a page containing that form, and only when the feature is configured for the environment. Cloudflare may use browser storage as part of that check. Turnstile is designed as a privacy-preserving alternative to conventional CAPTCHA products and is used here purely to protect the form from abuse - not to profile you. See the Cloudflare privacy policy (opens in a new tab) for how Cloudflare handles that data.
  • Rate limiting and abuse protection on our servers rely on request metadata such as IP address rather than on cookies.

3.6 Other third-party tools

Web fonts used on this site are served from our own domain rather than fetched from a third-party font service at page load, so no request is made to a font provider when you visit. Payment processing happens inside the EasyQuo application through our payment provider, which sets its own strictly necessary cookies during a payment flow under its own privacy terms.

4. Consent

Under South African law, and the practice we follow, strictly necessary technologies and a preference you actively set do not require prior consent. Because we currently load no analytics, advertising, or behavioural-tracking technology, there is nothing on this site for which consent would be needed - and so we do not show a consent banner.

We consider a banner that appears, collects a click, and changes nothing to be worse than no banner: it trains people to dismiss a control that does not work. If we introduce any non-essential technology, we will add a genuine consent control that loads nothing before you agree, makes rejecting as easy as accepting, and lets you change or withdraw your choice at any time. This notice will be updated in the same change.

5. Controlling storage yourself

You remain in control regardless of what any site offers:

  • Browser settings.Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies and site data, either globally or per site. Look for "Cookies and site data" or "Privacy and security" in your browser's settings.
  • Clearing our theme preference. Clearing site data for https://easyquo.com removes the stored theme choice. The site will simply start again in its default appearance.
  • Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Because we run no tracking technologies, there is nothing here for these signals to switch off.

6. What happens if you block things

  • Blocking preference storage on the marketing site is harmless - the theme toggle still works for the current visit, but your choice will not be remembered next time.
  • Blocking strictly necessary storage in the EasyQuo application will prevent you from signing in or staying signed in.
  • Blocking the Cloudflare Turnstile script may prevent the contact form from being submitted. If that happens, email us directly at [email protected] instead.

7. Retention

Session items last only as long as your browser session. Our theme preference persists on your device until you clear it. Strictly necessary cookies set by our infrastructure or payment provider follow those providers' own lifetimes, which are typically short and measured in minutes to hours for security cookies.

8. Changes to this notice

We will update this notice whenever the technologies in use change, and we will change the review date at the top of the page. Because the honest answer today is "essential and preference storage only", any future addition is a material change and will be treated as one.

9. Contact

This notice describes the technologies in use on the EasyQuo website as at the review date above. It is not legal advice, and it will be updated if we introduce any technology that requires consent.
